Biography!!
I am the
source of developing bond between U.S.A and Pakistan. My name is Ali Akmal
Chaudhry from Punjab, Pakistan. I am a YES scholar! YES (youth exchange and
study) program is the international scholarship for youth. Youth of today are
very talented and have spirit to prove themselves. YES is one of the programs
that stand with people who have resolute aims for their lives. This program is
sponsored by the U.S Department of State. YES took me from Pakistan to U.S.A in
order to enhance my experience. This scholarship had given me a plethora chance
to know about my country from American perspective. I am here to be part of
American culture and traditions. I am in Westerville, Ohio. Westerville South
High School is my education institution for this entire year. I am going to
experience American life style and festivals for one year.
Many social, political or economic issues exist in world but child labor is the most serious issue. Child labor harms children and keeps them from attending school. Children under twelve work at all sorts of jobs around the country. They are forced to work either in legal or illegal professions. Many young boys start working at eight years old, when they should be playing games, studying and having fun. They work in different factories, industries, agriculture or services. Many children also start begging to make money for their family.
There are
children who cannot go to schools due to financial problems. They only watch
others go to schools and can merely wish to seek knowledge. It is due to many
difficulties and desperate conditions that they face in life. Having been
forced to abandon their aspirations, dreams and other wishes, they are pressed
to earn a living for themselves and for their families. It is also a fact that
there are many children who play a key role in sustaining the economic life of
their family without which, their families would not be able to make ends meet.
If those people who could help these children would remember the pleasure of
their childhood this maybe would change.
Consider the point that most of our country’s total population is leading a life in poverty, where people are deprived of basic necessities of life like clothing, shelter, food, education and medication. The children of these people are forced to become laborers or workers in order to survive. Another reason for child Labor is that our people don’t have the social security or welfare benefits such as the United States. There is no aid plan or allowance for children in countries. Class-based education system is another reason for increasing child Labor; villages lack standardized education systems and a family value of education in sometimes. As a result, child Labor is on the increase in rural areas. The government has not passed laws to stop child Labor in our country. Corrupt employers are extracting a large surpluses from cheap child labor. Increasing poverty, unemployment and other problems, are pressing poor families to do anything and everything for their survival and livelihood.
This issue is
important to me because one of my intelligent friends is also involved in this
issue. He is very hard working and he wanted to continue his study after his
graduation from high school. He wanted to be an engineer and wanted to work for
the benefit of the world but his parents cannot afford the money of college.
His parents forced him to join their family business but he really wanted to
continue his education. I want to be involved in a solution to this issue in my
country, in order to help him and other millions of children.
The problem of child labor has done enough damage to the
lives and health of many innocent children over centuries by stealing away
their many rights. It is now evident that child laborers are heavily losing out
on all fronts and are becoming terribly unequipped to live a good future life.
Child labor negatively affects their mental, emotional and psychological capabilities.
Child labor should be brought to an end now. Due to this issue
many children become limited and they lose hope of being educated and
successful in life. It destroys the personality of children and makes them feel
like a slave in this world. They become discouraged from their life and that
leads them to suicide.
There are many
forms of child labor but we must give greater attention to its worst forms,
namely, child slavery, child prostitution, child soldiers, and child
trafficking. We must unite and help each other in order to fight and eradicate
child labor. Let us work together to save the children of the world and to
provide them with a better future for these children will sooner or later be
the hope of our world.
